Pain is one of the most challenging issues dealt with both cancer patients, this whether the agonizing pain of the later stages of the disease or the temporary pain of black salve use.

Hi--A couple days ago I used black salve on an infection on the cuticle of a finger which I've had for months. It may be a fungal infection with an additional bacterial complication. (My guess). Anyway, it wouldn't go away so I put black salve on (maybe too much for about 4 hours but it hurt to much and I removed it. It's been two days now and my finger, hand and up my arm hurt terribly. The edge of the cutucle was initially white, now it is blackish red, with yellow pus and around it it is incredibly red and swollen. I''m ready to go to the doctor because I can't stand the pain anymore and I'm getting nervouse. What can I do? Thank you

Unfortunately, you seem to have used the salve somewhat unpreparedly. As you have no doubt since discovered, reading my book first would have made you a little more cautious. At this juncture, time will take care of the reaction, but I doubt the problem is fully resolved.

I would soak your hand (or just the finger) in warm water with turmeric powder for 20 minutes, several times a day. Your hand will turn yellow, but it will eventually wash off.

I would also improvise a poultice out of turmeric and flour and water and wrap the finger. This will not hurt, but you need to assume that the fact that the pain radiated as much as it did indicates that the problem is a bit more systemic than you might have assumed.

I'd definitely take an immune booster and probably go to a gentler drawing salve such as the German Kermesberro which is black but not escharotic.

Sorry about this, but your finger definitely has your undivided attention now!

Thanks,Ingrid. Luckily, the intensity of the pain has subsided tonight although the cuticle is still very red and swollen, even more than before I used the salve. I will defintitely go out and buy your book now. I bought this CanX salve when I was in AZ a couple years ago and never used it till now. A few months ago I developed what seems to be a fungal infection in one nail, then another, then the one with the problem. Fortunately the other nails don't seem to be infected in the same way. It won't go away and since I've never had this happen before, I'm not sure how to deal with it. How well does black salve work for fungal infection and could it be a symptom of another systemic problem. I'm pretty health savvy and take care of myself so this is sort of out of left field. Any ideas? By the way, does black salve work diluted for any sinus problems? Thanks.

By the way, any suggestions for a good immune booster? Linda

I would not use the black salve internally. You saw what it did to your finger and now you would venture another go with it, but this time in a structure that is less accessible and more sensitive? not to mention more critical?

I think you should get through the entire process with your finger until you understand this product before you gamble again.

Our best immune product is Indigo Drops.

My friend is using the black salve for a neoplasm (very large) on her breast. After one "round" quite a layer has come off, but there is a lot left. So she was directed to do another round, putting the salve on the tumor and leaving it several hours, for 10 days. The pain is unbearable! She absolutely can't stand it. Any advise on pain relief, as it does seem to be reducing the tumor?

Yes, she needs a medical doctor to prescribe pain relievers. She can mix something like Di Da Wan (a Chinese martial arts formula for pain) into the salve but it only relieves part of the pain, not all. This said, the largest breast tumor to be removed in this manner was 4.5 inches in diameter so it's possible, just very challenging, very, very challenging.

I wish her the best.

Thank you for your answer concerning pain. She has contacted a medical doctor for prescription pain relief, but has not started the third round yet, due to the continued sloughing off of dead tissue from the second round. Is it correct to assume that each round of treatment might become more painful? And do you need to wait till all the dead tissue comes off completely before beginning another round? I will have to ask my friend how large hers is, maybe it is larger than 4.5 inches in diameter. She just told me it was very large. Would there be advantage to having part of the tumor removed surgically, then going back to using the salve?
Thank you so much for answering my questions!

Karen,

If a tumor is "very large," the probability of needing some kind of skin grafting is quite high. The historic authorities I researched stated that this would always be required, but recent experience suggests that "always" is not quite true. Nevertheless, a 4.5 inch eschar is enormous and probably does indicate the need for supervision of some type.

Pain is quite unpredictable because the skin deadens in very different manners so the pain of one treatment may not be a useful predictor of what might happen on the next round. While the skin looks more sensitive, it may or may not be more reactive and this seems connected to the pain.

I wish for a happy outcome. Keep us posted.

Interesting, that the pain does not necessarily follow the predictable course. My friend just finished her third round, again with great pain, but she did say the eschar from the tumor is "a layer" at a time basically. The original tumor was about 2 and a half by one and a half inches, so nowhere near the size of your "largest documented tumor." She is confident thus far that the treatment is working, and I too wish for a happy outcome.
Thank you for your info.

If there are nerves, there can be referred pain. On the spine (as you wrote elsewhere), this would be possible.

I have terminal cancer in four areas. Two in my right lung, one in my chest under my ribs and one in a lyph node under my right arm. They obviously missed this one during the surgery. This is the only tumour that I can feel, it started off the size of a marble and is now the size of an egg. I had right breast cancer surgery 2 1/2 years ago and elected not take any chemotherapy or radiation treatments. I have been taking various herbs to try and help. I do not look or feel particularly sick, just very tired all the time. I am willing to try anything "natural" to help my situation
Would this black salve help me and if so how would I go about using it?
