Many people are afraid of diagnostic tests (rightfully in many cases) and of the corroboration of their fears, but others are worrying needlessly over symptoms they do not understand. This is the place to discuss less invasive but accurate means of determining the presence or absence of cancer.

I'm not sure about this question. You are saying that because of brain cancer, you have difficulty resting? or you are saying that restless may be an indication of brain cancer?

I will assume the former because restlessness may have many other, much easier, explanations.

Let us imagine then that the tumor is situated in such a way as to put pressure on the parts of the brain that control rest? or there is edema associated with the tumor?

My first recommendation would be to try Boswellia serrata:

This is because the herb seems to affect fluids and restore some ease as well as coordination. I don't think we actually know whether or not it destroys the tumor.

The next suggestion is to avoid all foods that cause fluid build up: basically everything that is sweet (as opposed to bitter or spicy) and secondarily, everything that is too salty. Foods that are astringent or bitter are good. This includes all leafy green vegetables and many, many herbs.

The next suggestion would be to inhale aromatic essential oils. Sometimes, the fluid build up is such that there is pressure on the nerves or there is so much toxicity that the nerve sheaths are eroded. Saturating a hot, wet washcloth with water and putting a couple of drops of a good essential oil on the cloth and breathing this often relaxes. It sounds too simple to be true, but I have pulled animals and people out of serious spasm and wearying restlessness in just a few seconds with a soothing essential oil. Eucalyptus is lovely but almost all of them are effective, even frankincense which is related to Boswellia serrata (it's the same family of herbs but a slightly different species, Boswellia carduus.)

The next suggestion would be anti-cancer herbs in tonic form. Let us know how this works. Good luck.

P.S. There was a scrolled message on the bottom of the news screen on TV last night about children's brain cancers being linked to two viruses . . . something many of us have suspected for some time. I'll try to find out more.

Dear Ingrid, I spoke to a girl that I went to high school with about a year ago. She told me that she was going to see a doctor because she was losing her balance and thought she had an inner ear infection. That was a year ago. I saw her again about two months after that visit and she told me she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was malignant. I can't remember the name, I beleive it began with an A, and she said it was a rare type. She has since had most of it removed and went through chemo. She seemed to be doing well, and her balance came back, but I think it must have started back up again, because I just saw her last week and she had an extremely hard time walking without holding on to something. I didn't want to ask her anything, but she didn't look so well this last time I saw her. Is there anything that she might be able to try?

Terri,

She can look into the research on Boswellia serrata as well as some of the alternatives with the capacity to pass the blood-brain barrier. For instance, berberine passes this barrier and this is a constituent of goldenseal, barberry, and Oregon grape root. The problem would seem to be that she is not asking for help and it's always difficult to care and to feel helpless and to not know what to offer or whether it would be received if offered.

Has there been success with salves for Stage III Epithelial Ovarian cancer, the kind that is microscopic...like salt and pepper sprinkled through the stomach.
